About
Hannah Kuker, socially engaged artist.
I’ve never really seen my art as a platform to instruct others how to think. Rather, my work acts as a conduit through which to encourage people to share how they perceive the world. By utilizing universally relatable symbols, viewers are invited to fuse messages with their own cultures, thus embedding my art into a larger cross-cultural conversation about unity and empathetic coexistence.
Art is equally about the why as much as it is about the what. It’s encompasses not just compositional elements, but also an ongoing story to be deconstructed and discussed. As viewers share their nuanced insights, the work’s meaning often evolves; it is thereby a product of our shared humanity, and speaks to the very root of what art is for me and many others: a vehicle for forging human connections.
Working out of my hometown studio in Miami, Florida, I’ve had the opportunity to showcase my work on both a local and international scale, engaging diverse communities in potent conversations that re-contextualize commonplace symbols to reflect on societal norms and areas in need of progress. I aim to use my artistic platform to create thought-provoking artwork that stirs positive change in the greater community.
