Hannah Kuker, conceptual artist.
Art is as much about the why as the what. A work has value not just from the aesthetics of its compositional elements, but also from the story it conveys and the conversations it sparks. That, to me, is what art is for: a vehicle for forging human connection, and for making sense of our shared experiences.
I think of myself as a visual storyteller. My work is a tapestry of symbols drawn from nature, religion, mythology, and pop culture—imagery that belongs to everyone. A shared meal, a doorway, a familiar plant: these carry meaning across cultures, letting viewers of any background fuse my messages with their own and place the work inside a larger conversation about what it means to build community.
Working out of my hometown studio in Miami, I've had the opportunity to exhibit on a local and international scale, engaging diverse communities in thought-provoking discussions about what unites and challenges us. My goal is to make art that brings people together, and stirs a little positive change along the way.
